Charter Review Commission Solicits Public Input for Proposed Amendments to the Cuyahoga County Charter

will accept proposed amendments to the Cuyahoga County Charter, following the process outlined by the County Charter
and Council Ordinance 02015-0002
The Cuyahoga County Charter Review Commission is established pursuant to Article XII, Section 12.09 of the Cuyahoga County Charter. As the entity responsible for reviewing Cuyahoga County's Charter, the nine volunteer members consider any necessary changes to the Charter to facilitate a more effective, efficient government and service delivery. The Charter Review Commission reviews all sections of the Charter and proposes amendments that the Commission deems appropriate.
Through monthly meetings between now and June 2018, the Charter Review Commission will consider amendments and eventually submit recommendations to the County Council, who will determine proposals for public vote.
To propose an amendment for the Commission’s consideration, please complete and submit the Proposed Charter Amendment Summary form
no later than Tuesday, December 5th, 2017, via email to CharterReview@cuyahogacounty.us
or by mail to Charter Review Commission – 8th Floor, 2079 East Ninth Street, Cleveland, OH 44115.
Individuals submitting a Proposed Charter Amendment Summary form, will be invited to present to the Charter Review Commission on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center (Ford Room) located at 2500 East 22nd Street, Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Free parking is available.
In early 2018, selected proposed amendments will be invited by the Commission to provide additional information, more detailed rationale, and suggested language for Charter Amendments.
