CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Director of Sustainability Mike Foley issued the following statement:

“Ohio House Republicans in their newest version of HB6 have cynically and irrationally removed support for wind and solar energy from their so-called Clean Energy bill.

At a time when there are daily stories about new studies detailing the harms we will face from Climate Change and our need to switch to renewable power, HB6 simply defies logic. Just last week the world saw the highest Co2 readings in over 800,000 years.

Cuyahoga County is trying to do our part in minimizing emissions into the atmosphere. Last week, we published our Climate Action plan to deal with our efforts to adapt to the Climate Change realities we know we will have to face and work to mitigate our greenhouse gas footprint by encouraging more renewable energy projects.

House Republicans’ efforts to stymie these projects in the guise of supporting ‘clean energy’ is just a kick in the gut. It is irrational. It is counterproductive. And it is harmful to generations of Ohioans who will have to live with its consequences.”
