Cuyahoga County –Today, the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management was awarded $28,000 to support School Emergency Response Planning. The Office of Emergency Management will be working with the Parma School District to develop plans and procedures that can serve as a template for all schools in Cuyahoga County.

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald: “We are committed to the safety and security of students in the wake of the tragic incident at Chardon High School and are pleased to be awarded this grant. It will be used as a resource to develop tools to help law enforcement and schools with suggested guidelines for response in a school emergency incident.”

In addition to the grant, the Office of Emergency Management is working with the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) to host a Senior Officials Workshop geared specifically to school officials this September. The course will be open to all school officials in Cuyahoga County and will offer tools and information about planning for emergency events within a school.
