FitzGerald Makes Additional Appointments to Leadership Team

Development posts filled, Special Assistant named, Clerk of Courts Retained

CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald announced today several new additions to his economic development team. Additionally, Bob Ivory was hired to work in the executive office as council liaison and Gerald Fuerst was retained as Clerk of Courts.

“We continue to build a top quality leadership team that will help implement a comprehensive economic development strategy and significantly improve county operations,” said FitzGerald. “I’m pleased that these talented individuals have agreed to be a part of this new county government.

Ed Jerse was named Regional Collaboration Director and Nathan Kelly was selected as Deputy Chief of Staff for Economic Development. Last week, FitzGerald appointed well-respected economic development expert, Dorothy Baunach as Interim Development Director.

Jerse earned his law degree from Harvard and his Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown. He formerly worked as the Director of Government Relations at the Ohio Department of Development, Euclid City Prosecutor and Assistant Attorney General. He also served as a State Representative in the Ohio General Assembly from 1995 to 2004.

Nathan Kelly was the Director of Planning and Economic Development at the city of Lakewood where he helped reduced retail vacancy and generated millions in new development. Kelly also implemented a municipal landbank program to protect against the impact of vacant foreclosure properties.

FitzGerald also announced the selection of Bob Ivory as Special Assistant to the Executive where he will oversee a range of responsibilities including serving as the liaison to the Cuyahoga County Council. Ivory served on the transition team and his previous work experience includes the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the Governor’s Office for Closing the Achievement Gap.

Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts Gerald Fuerst was also retained today. The Clerk of Courts plays a vital role in supporting the justice system. Fuerst has over 30 years of experience running an efficient and effective Clerk’s office. He has a law degree and bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University. Fuerst is active in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association where he is a long time member of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee.
